Save Mr. Eggie !

This is what I did in class last week; trying not to break an egg by throwing it from two meters height, using only a pack of straws. So my group constructed the straws in a triangular shape so we could save straws usage. We also made a "case" for the egg. Not to brag, but we succeeded!

Taa-daa! Mr. Eggie came out safely without any crack.

I found this cool and funny application for apple called Faces iMake. You can make faces from objects like foods, buttons, numbers, etc. Since it is not free now, I do not download it. But few years ago, I used to use this app in my previous phone. It is fun!

There is actually a term for this phenomenon; it is called pareidoila. There are many kinds of it but the common one includes seeing faces from objects. I think everyone may be have this kind of sense?

We can actually make faces from foods. In this case, I personally spot that most of the faces made from foods are intentionally made, meaning that they do not naturally appear there. Instead, people arrange the elements of the food in certain way to create faces.

Most common faces we encounter everyday are from cars. I think we all think the same thing; two lights as eyes and the bumper as mouth.

This is my favourite face from the link. It looks so natural with two eyes looking down the bowl, as if seeing something awesome inside the bowl.

I was about to search about analogical thinking images in Google and I saw this simple and exactly shows an analogical thinking through words, not by a thing they see.

So in this illustration the kid's opinion is that the word "revolution" is analogy of "spin". Well, in my opinion I might say the word "revolution" is an analogy of "riot", "mass" or maybe "change".

After finished my class today, I went to Daiso and saw a sheet of bamboo; the kind that is used for making sushi. So suddenly I thought of bamboos which are usually eaten by pandas. In my opinion, the bamboo is an analogy of a flute, which I found they both have an empty space inside the cylinder.

Do you realize that a phone case might be an analogy of a shirt? They both serve as coverings. Although for the phone case it is to protect its "skin" from scratches while a shirt is to cover our body and also to provide warmness for us.

I actually researched a bit about the analogical thinking and I saw this cool illustration. I did not notice this kind of analogy before, but thanks to this illustrator, now I see how a drill might be an analogous of a bird.

In my simple term, analogical thinking is when you show the similarities of two things which are actually different. For example, sometime I will see an alarm clock is an analogy of a face (the two round things above as eyes and the clock itself as a big opening mouth).

1. Taste words

This kind of synesthesia is called Lexical-Gustatory Synesthesia. People with this kind of synesthesia evoke different tastes when they hear certain words or phonemes. For example if someone has not had tasted raspberries before, he or she will not be able to taste that certain flavour when he or she experience synesthesia.

2. Feel or touch sound

For example when you hear a woman shouting with really high pitch, you will be able to feel that the sound is "spiky". Or when you hear a smoker's voice, then you might feel that the sound is "rough".

3. Mirror touch synesthesia

This is a rare form of synesthesia in which when you see a person being touched for example, you are able to as well feel the touch without literally being touched. That means when you see other people are in pain, you are also able to feel their pain.

4. See different colours in letters as well as numbers.

People with synesthesia see different letters and numbers in different colours. A test given to people with and without synesthesia. When those people being asked to find number 2, people without synesthesia will find it in few seconds longer than people with synesthesia. The reason is because people with synesthesia are able to see these different colours of numbers so they find it so easily.

5. See music

Wassily Kandinsky was able to "see" music as well as to express it into his paintings. He actually visualise this kind of "scene" when he listen to music.

6. Taste colours

After stroke, this man can actually taste colours. For example when he eats raspberries, he tastes it as blue colour. On the other hand, when he sees blue colour, he can also taste raspberries.

7. Listen to colours

This explains how some people can say "the colour is loud!", in which most of us interpret the colour is neon, or any bright and contrast colour.

Neil Harbisson was born colour blind, but then he can know what colour it is by listening to the frequency by using his "eyeborg". Here is the video about how he listen to the colours.

At a glance we might think it is only a loudspeaker. But actually it is not only functioned as a loudspeaker, we can also listen to radio, insert memory card, plug in headset and it becomes MP3 player instantly. It is also portable and handy.

Yesterday when I went to The Riverwalk, I saw a product called Spy Pen. It is actually a combination of a pen, camera, and also recorder. I did not have the guts to take photo, so I draw it.
I think this kind of product is cool. Because you can actually record a person's talking without him or her knowing because nobody would guess there is a camera and recorder hidden in a pen!

I have this kind of product at my house in which the bed is combined with drawer at the bottom. By using this kind of design, I think everything will be more effective, for example when I need to take my stuffs, I don't necessarily stand up, I just need to pull out the drawer below the bed. Additionally, it is space-saving.

I remember when I was a kid, I actually saw an interesting design in my cousin's house in which the object combines stair step and book shelf. Since I don't have the picture, I draw it instead.
Of course, the benefit of this product is to save space. Beside, it will be more organised because it is separated by each step.
